Hi Sarah,

I enjoyed reading your post, it is nice to interact with a person in the other cohort in the BEd program (I also just finished year two). Reading about your fall field experience had me thinking back to mine, and I was struggling to think of examples of behaviorism being used in the class I visited. I was in a grade one class with a student on the spectrum that had a full-time EA with them, so this was another parallel to your experience. Although it was a year older than the kindergarten class you were visiting, I was wondering if the student with autism also had an EA, and if so was that part of your inquiry?

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Mickayla,

I found your blog post really interesting. I know that the cohorts in the BEd program had a couple of different professors for certain courses but I did not have the chance to hear from anyone about their experiences. I have struggled in the past when I find a course or professor uninspiring or when I do not learn well with the teaching style they use, so Iā€™m sorry to hear about your experience. However I am intrigued by your ā€œinspiration and correlationā€ lists, Iā€™d like to hear more about that if you have the chance.
I appreciate that you included one of the articles we read in 301 last term. I found this to be a valuable resource throughout that course and no doubt it will continue to remain so. The importance of acknowledging all aspects of a student, or people in general, cannot be understated. I think that the ability to recognize and address the needs of a student or class will be central to leading a classroom of happy, curious, and motivated learners.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  • Hi Carla! Yes, the student always had an EA working with them. There were two main EA’s that would switch throughout the day. For my inquiry, I was hoping to speak to one of them, but unfortunately I was not able to. However, I did speak to someone in my cohort who is an EA in order to learn different ways/tools to help students with autism, and some of the things we discussed, I actually saw in the kindergarten classroom! Thanks for your question!
