Hi Karen,

I enjoyed reading your post about open pedagogies. When I saw that option on the list of blog prompts it was the only one I didn’t recognize so I am glad that I was able to read your post and get some more information about it. I found that your explanation was clear and concise and realized that I have taken classes in the past that utilized OER textbooks like the ones you mention. When I was using the textbooks I knew they were an open source product and was thankful for being able to save some money but I did not think of it as part of the teacher’s pedagogy. However, I now understand how creating an environment of accessible education is connected to a teaching philosophy or pedagogy. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Hang,

I liked how you started your blog on cooperative learning with a list of characteristics of that learning/teaching approach. Having that list at the start instantly gave me an understanding of your topic and was a helpful introduction to the video you included. I found it interesting when the video on cooperative learning mentioned this as a valuable life skill, I think at times we are too focused on individual achievement in classrooms and forget how important it is to develop interpersonal skills as well. The video also highlights the importance of individual accountability, I think some students find it hard to speak up in groups, I wonder what advice there is to make sure everyone is included. This was a great post and really got me thinking about how cooperative learning is used in the course and in the learning resource my pod is creating. Thanks for sharing!
